Salsa

Belly dancing has recently been made widely popular by Shakira, whose dancing combines belly dance, Latino and modern dance styles. Other singers also performed belly dance in their music videos, like Beyonce, Rihanna, Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguiler & Jessica Simpson.

The benefits of belly dance are both mental and physical. Dancing provides a good cardio-vascular workout and helps increase both flexibility and strength, focusing on the torso or "core muscles", although it also builds leg strength. Many belly dance styles emphasize muscular "isolations", teaching the ability to move various muscles or muscle groups independently. Veil work can build arm, shoulder, and general upper-body strength, and playing the zils can build strength and independence of the fingers. This is for everyone of all ages, shapes and sizes!

Strip to Fit & Pussycat Doll Dance are the hottest new trend to keep fit, popularized by Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease and Sheila Kelley's S Factor classes. Danced to R&B and Hip Hop, these classes offer a great workout and a safe arena to move your body and laugh with your girl friends. In addition, the girls-only class boosts self confidence as girls recognize that they are beautiful at whatever shape or size!

Each class will start with some sexy style muscle conditioning to get you tight and toned and finish with a spicy routine involving either regular, floor or chair work.  A Strip to Fit program spends more time on muscle conditioning while a Pussycat Doll Dance class is more focused on the dance choreography.

Salsa is usually a partner dance that is associated to salsa music now popular worldwide.  It has its origins in the '50s to '70s, with the truly distinct salsa style coming out of New York in the '70s. The music fuses a number of Cuban styles, but also draws from a number of other Latin American musical styles using the maracas, conga drums, and guiros.

Salsa has become one of the hottest trends and Toronto has one of the best Salsa scenes in the world. It is a great way to meet people and have fun.  No partner is required!! Not to mention that dancing improves posture and grace, and also a fun way to keep in shape.

Hip hop is a subculture that originated from an African American community during the 1970s in New York City, specifically in Morris Heights, Bronx, then later spread its influence to Latin American communities. While the term is often used to refer to hip-hop music, in its broader sense hip-hop culture is characterized by the four elements of rapping, DJing, breaking and graffiti. Move your body in style to funky music and have an awesome workout! :)
